NAFDAC solicits logistic support from Kwara government

Date: 2018-03-06

The Kwara state office of the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has appealed to the state government to come to the aid of the agency in terms of logistics, particularly vehicles so as to carry out their duties and reach out to the grassroots level.

The State Coordinator of the agency, Mrs Roseline Ajayi made the plea in Ilorin, the state capital while answering questions from newsmen.

According to her, with the present logistic challenges, the agency has just one functional vehicle with twenty six members of staff, making it difficult to cover effectively all the sixteen local government areas of the state.

She called for regular surveillance in all the nooks and crannies of the state to achieve its set goals and objectives, stressing that without vehicles, the agency cannot travel to far places such as Baruten, Kaiama and Patigi.

The State Coordinator advocated the need for the youths to be usefully engaged so that they will guide against drug abuse and other illicit acts.

Mrs Ajayi warned against taking drugs without prescription either for medical or non medical purposes and urged the people to seek medical advice and counseling rather than going into drug abuse.

According to her, NAFDAC would embark on post market surveillance to ensure that manufactures and importers conform with the standard they were initially registered with.

She appealed to Nigerians to support the agency in protecting the youths in particular against drug abuse and drug misuse.
