The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday said it was in support of the dialogue said to have been embarked upon by members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees and Association of Local Governments of Nigeria with the state government to resolve issues of the payment of workers' salaries for June and July.

The state PDP Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Mas'ud Adebimpe, in a statement on Tuesday, said dialogue was the best solution to the payment issue.

He, however, said the PDP had uncovered a plot allegedly by the state's chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria to cause civil disobedience or industrial unrest in the state.

He alleged that the said plot could further worsen the situation in the state and unleash hardship on the workers.

"The PDP wishes to draw the attention of the general public to this dangerous moves by the ACN to cause more hardship for our people under the cover of playing politics," he said.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Mr. Kayode Olawepo, on Tuesday said the ACN did not in any way call for civil disobedience in the state. In a statement, he said the party did not believe in violence and would never incite people to violence.

He also denied knowledge of any meeting between any member of the party and the unpaid workers and challenged the PDP in the state to bring forward its proof of such, if it had any.
