Fuel scarcity: Long queues of vehicles resurface in Ilorin

Date: 2017-12-07

FUEL scarcity has crept into parts of Kwara State as many petroleum filling stations belonging to the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in the Ilorin metropolis do not open for business on Wednesday.

Tribune Online investigations revealed that only few of the filling stations were selling, as vehicle owners had to queue for more than one hour before they could buy petrol.

It was also gathered that most filling stations located on major roads in the state capital such as old Jebba road, Unity Road, University road did not sell fuel to buyers.

However, vehicle owners had succour in the major NNPC mega station at Asa Dam road, among its other outlets in the metropolis where they bought fuel without long queue.

Speaking on the development, the Head, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Mr Salvation Phillips, said that there was no fuel scarcity in the state, adding that people should discourage panic buying in order not to create artificial scarcity.
