Kwara Speaker laments demise of Ex-- Speaker Ismaila Sadik

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad has described the death of the former Speaker, Barrister Sadik Alhaji Ismaila has a huge loss to Parliamentary democracy and to the entire people of the State.

The Speaker made this observation in Ilorin, while reacting to the death of second Republic Speaker of the state House of Assembly. Dr Ahmad in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdul Rahman Sanni, described the former Speaker as a legal icon, detribalised Nigerian and great stabiliser, who ensure cohesion, between law makers of the defunct National Party of Nigeria( NPN), the Unity Party of Nigeria( UPN), Great Nigeria's People's Party(GNPP) and Nigeria's Peoples Party( NPP) and harmonious working between the arms of government in the State.

Dr Ahmad who said the former Speaker would be remembered for his principle, tenacity of purpose humility and modest contributions to parliamentary democracy, enjoined Nigerians to emulate his sterling qualities to further strengthen the nation' s parliamentary democracy.

He said Barrister Sadik passed on "when his wealth of experience and wisdom were greatly needed to fashion a new Constitution, that would further stabilize the nation's hard won democracy".

Dr Ahmad consoled the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, his immediate family and the entire people of Ilorin Emirate over" the demise of the great patriot and enjoined them to take solace in the fact that the former Speaker, lived a life worthy of emulation by all and sundry.

Barrister Sadik Alhaji Ismaila who served as Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, between October and December 31st, 1983, elected on the platform of the defunct NPN, to represent Ilorin West Constituency, died at the early hours of today, after a brief illness.
