Environment Hazards: Kwara Assembly Condemns Indiscriminate Mounting of Billboards

Kwara House of Assembly has condemned the indiscriminate mounting and placing of handbills and billboards on unauthorized places within Ilorin metropolis.

In a notice of motion titled: "Mounting and placing of bills and billboards on unauthorized places: KWHAM20" moved by a member representing Ilesa Gwanara Constituency, Hon. Suleiman Sunaboro and seconded by Hon. Hassan Oyeleke of Essa/Shawo/Igbiodun Constituency, the lawmaker urged the Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency to be alive to its responsibilities by dealing with erring individuals, groups and corporate organizations that violate the provisions of signage and advertisement law.

The House also called on the Signage and Advertisement Agency, Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) to collaborate with a view to removing billboards obstructing traffic signs and vision of motorists.

It also called for the sensitization of the general public especially politicians, religious and business organizations on the laws relating to the placement of posters and other bills.
