Activities paralysed at FGC Ilorin

The ongoing strike embarked upon by the senior staff of Federal Government owned Colleges in Nigeria has paralysed academic activities at the Federal Government College, llorin, the Kwara capital. The Daily Times, report that the strike which entered its sixth week now had turned the Federal Government College, llorin to ghost town. The striking senior staff of the colleges is agitating for payment of November 2016 salary by the Federal Government.

The Federal Government College, llorin management released its students about a fortnight ago after waiting endlessly for the strike to end. The Chairman of the Parent Teachers Association of FGC Ilorin and Omuaran, Alhaji Saka Agarawu while speaking with DAILY Times in llorin on Wednesday appealed to the Federal Ministry of Education to pay November 2016 Salary of the striking workers.

This he said was to enable the students resume their academic work for the third term in the season.He lamented that the students have wasted six weeks doing noting at home after they had spent four weeks in the schools doing nothing.

Agarawu said the parents had to pick their wards from the school pending the time the strike action would be called off. "We are appealing to the Federal Ministry of Education to save the life of our children and until the striking staff return to work" the PTA Chairman said.
