Unilorin hosts 3rd National Youth Games

Date: 2017-04-04

The University of Ilorin has again got the nod of the Federal Government to host the 3rd edition of the National Youth Games between September 7 and 17 this year.

This is coming one year after the successful hosting of the 2nd edition of the Games by the university last year.

This was made known during a meeting between the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the management of the University of Ilorin.

Mr. Christian Chineaka Ohaa, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry was full of appreciation to the university's Vice-Chancellor for accepting to host two editions of the games back-to-back.

Ohaa commended the staff of the University for what he described as their "selfless support" during the last edition of the youth games held at the institution.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, said that the September date for the games would be the best time, judging by the University's calendar.

This year's edition of the games is expected to provide the opportunity for the selection of athletes that will represent the country at the World Youth Games to be held in Argentina.
