Don't patronise illegal medicine stores, Kwara Govt warns public

Date: 2017-04-02

The Kwara Government on Saturday warned members of the public against patronising the operators of illegal medicine stores, saying their activities pose health danger.

Alhaja Risikat Lawal, the Director, Pharmaceutical Service, state Ministry of Health, gave the warning in a statement issued in Ilorin.

Lawal said, "Any patent medicine store operating without licence and evidence of registration with the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN) or any visible means of identification is operating an illegal outlet.

"Unlicensed patent medicine stores pose danger to the people's health and general wellbeing of the nation." She expressed displeasure over the rising waves of illegal sales of medicines in major markets across the state.

Lawal, however, warned the operators of such illegal outlets to desist or face the full wrath of the law.

The director appealed to the residents to assist the government with useful information on the activities of dealers of illegal medicine stores.
