In a bid to enhance tax knowledge across the country, the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) will hold the 137th Joint Tax Board (JTB) meeting starting from Monday.

Among the dignitaries expected at the two days event are the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, the Executive Chairman of Federal Internal Revenue Service (FIRS), Mr. Babatunde Fowler and chairmen of revenue agencies of all the 36 states in the county.

Speaking to the Public Relations Officer of KWIRS, Mrs. Habibah Aiyelabegan in a telephone chat yesterday, she said," The agency will be holding the first national JTB meeting in the state," adding that guests are expected to arrive on Sunday and among the dignitaries expected are; Finance Minister, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, the Executive Chairman of FIRS, Babatunde Fowler and chairmen of all the 36 states revenue agency. Aiyelabegan said the theme of the 137th meeting is: Collaboration Amongst Tax Authorities: Its impact to revenue generation and service delivery to taxpayers.

She added that among the guest speakers is Prof Abiola Sanni from University of Lagos and the Canadian Software Development Corporate (CSDC). According to her, members of the JTB will pay a courtesy visit to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Sulu Gambari and the Olofa of Offa, Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye.

She equally revealed that JTB members will visit the International Aviation College (IAC) and International Vocatio

nal Training and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC) in Ajase-Ipo among others. Additionally, Aiyelabegan disclosed that the final stage of tertiary institutions tax competition across the state will be conducted during the JTB meeting.
