Date: 2012-08-01

The Kwara State Government said it would start disbursing this year's bursary award to indigenes of the state in tertiary institutions across the country by September 2012.

The Special Adviser to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Student Affairs, Arc. Akanbi Lamidi who disclosed in an interview with newsmen, said arrangement has been concluded for the disbursement of the fund. He said as soon as students resume another academic session in September, they would start collecting their bursary award.

Reacting to the recent election of National Assistant of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) National Headquarters, he confirmed that Comrade Abdulazeez Bamigboye Lekan led candidates won the election.

The governor's aide said he personally supervised the election with the officer of State Security Service (SSS) in charge of student affairs and it was a peaceful, free and fair exercise.

He warned those who lose in the polls to stop parading themselves as executive of the association in the interest of peace and programmes of the state.

Lamidi however advised new executive of NAKSS to come up with educative programmes and avoid chasing shadow.

He further urged students to shun cultism and other social vices that could jeopardize their future and that of the state.
