Kwara LGs Get N100m For Former Political Office Holders

Date: 2017-01-17

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has approved the release of N100milion to local governments in the State for the payment of arrears of former political office holders.

The State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu, who disclosed this on Monday, said that the local councils are to use the funds to offset the unpaid salaries and allowances of the ex-political office holders.

Alhaji Banu said that with this latest release of N100m, the local governments have now got a total of N3.5billion as their share of the Paris Club refund received by the State from the Federal Government.

The Commissioner recalled that the State government had earlier released a total of N3.4b to the LGs for the payment of salary and pension arrears.

He, therefore, assured that the State government will keep supporting the local government councils to enhance their capacity to meet salary and pension obligations.
