Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed has praised the dogged communal spirit of Kwarans in the diaspora, urging them to do more for their home state. In a goodwill message delivered at the Gala/Award Night of the 25th Anniversary of the Kwara State Association of Nigeria, North American Chapter( KSANG), In Maryland, USA , at the weekend, the governor recalled the robust partnership between his government and " Kwara's worthy ambassadors" on the development of the state.

He praised the individual and collective efforts of Kwarans in the diaspora to the socio- economic development of their home state. Gov. Ahmed tasked Kwarans abroad to tap into the opportunities now available at home in the areas of natural mineral resources and capacity building. The two-day anniversary programme which included panel discussion on KSANG, Youth development, youth tour/ bowling, climaxed with the Gala/Award Night.

Among the honourees were the Founder of Yolas Cosultants and Zannu of Ilorin, Engr. Lanre Sagaya, a former Honourable Commissioner in Kwara State and Oloriewe of Oro Land, Alhaji Abdulraheem Adedoyin and popular businessman and Socialite, Prince Toyese Oyinlola. The trio bagged the KSANG Honorary Lifetime Member Award. The awardees also included Sheikh Alhaji Yusuf Olaleye, Alhaja Sikirat Yayah (Outstanding Statesmanship Award); Mr. Lateef Amolegbe and Alh. Mudashiru Yayah( Lifetime Achievement Award); Mrs Harriet Adedoyin-Tuyo (Houston Chapter), Mrs Tinu Agboola (Atlanta) , Mr. Biodun Aina( Washington State), Mr. Wole Adeoye (Illinois) and Alhaji Kadiri Lawal (New York) for KSANG DC valor Award.

Dynamic Members of the DC Chapter honoured at the event were, Mr. Debo Owolabi, Alh. Abbas Sheriff, Alh. Olasupo Abbas, Mr. Yinka Dipe, Alhaja Kudirat Kadiri, Alhaja Moji Abubakar and Alhaja Silifat Olanrewaju. The awards were presented by KSANG National President, Mr. Bernard Adesina, assisted by KSANG DC Chairnan, Dr. Gboyega Abdulquadri and the Chairman, 25th Anniversary Organising Committee, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi.

Dignitaries at the Gala Night included His Royal Highness, the Elesie of Esie, Oba Yakubu Ibrahim Babalola, the Onikoko of Koko-Araromi, Oba Abdul Rahman Ayinla Adio-Onikoyi Oga 1 and notable kwarans and their associates from Nigeria and across America.
