Kwara Governor calls for inclusive banking

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has tasked Kwara Commercial Micro-finance Bank to explore various opportunities in rural areas in order to guarantee inclusive banking and stimulate the economy.

Governor Ahmed gave the charge in Ilorin, while receiving the cheque for dividend accrued to the state government from the Chairman, Board of Directors of the Micro-finance Bank, Engineer Demola Banu at the Government House.

The governor emphasised that leveraging on the opportunity of inclusive banking would not only contribute to GDP, but also enhance movement of cash from surplus zone to deficit zone. Governor Ahmed expressed satisfaction that the bank was able to achieve the purpose of its establishment of contributing to the state economy.

He also spoke of the government's intention to patronise the bank for its Small and Medium loan to the public, with a view to improving the bank.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman, Board of Directors, Kwara Commercial Micro-finance Bank, Engineer Demola Banu had said the bank had done well in the year under review despite the prevailing economic challenges.

Engineer Banu promised that the proposed Kwara North branch of the bank would commence operation before the end of the year, subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
