Monarch, Rep, hail Federal Government over Ajase-Ipo/Offa/Erin-Ile/Ilado road rehabilitation

Date: 2016-08-09

The Olofa of Offa, in Kwara, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, has commended the Federal Government for considering Ajase-ipo/Offa/Erin-ile/Ilado road as part of its priority projects.

The Olofa made the commendation in a statement he made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara on Monday.

The monarch said that the roads remained significant to the people in view of its economic relevance to the people of Kwara South Senatorial District, adding that its rehabilitation was long overdue. He said that the rehabilitation would also improve smooth flow of traffic and boost socio-economic activities in the area.

"Its completion will no doubt be crucial to the development of agriculture and other vital sectors of the economy," Gbadamosi added.

Olofa pledged that the traditional council and all the people in his domain would work toward the successful completion of the project. Similarly, Mr Olayonu Olarinoye, the member representing Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun in the House of Representative, said the project was facilitated by the collective effort of lawmakers from the state.

"These efforts, led by the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, resulted in its inclusion in the 2016 Appropriation Act.

"This was subsequently followed up at the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA). "I am happy that the Federal Government has given priority attention to the rehabilitation of the road," he said.

A correspondent of NAN who visited the project site reports that work has commenced on the construction of drainage along Amberi to Eleyoka section of the road. NAN also observed that materials for the rehabilitation of the road were being offloaded at Amberi LGEA) Primary School in readiness for the work.
