KWIRS reconstructs burnt shops in Oja-Tuntun
The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) at the weekend began the reconstruction of razed shops in Oja-Tuntun, Baboko, Ilorin west of Kwara State. It would be recalled that fire razed 40 shops and were burnt to ashes destroying property worth millions of naira at Oja-Tuntun, Baboko including 14 containers recently.
The Executive Chairman of KWIRS, Dr. Muritala Awodun who led other directors and staff of the agency to the market said the reconstruction would take six weeks hopefully and other assistance for takeoff activities within the capability of the agency would be provided.
Dr. Awodun said the reconstruction would be made possible due to the approval from the Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmad that the work should commence with immediate effect.
Dr. Awodun also inspected another part of the market that was raided in a similar incident as well as the refuse in the abattoir. Dr. Awodun therefore solicited for maximum cooperation from all to make the work a successful one.
The Chairman of Baboko Market, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Olasoju appreciated the state government and KWIRS for prompt response to the people’s needs and urged the government to provide fire services in market areas to prevent future reoccurrence.
Iyaloja general, Babaloja general, Babalaje of Oja Ago, and Chairman of Ibo community were some of the people present at the event.
