Don't follow footsteps of corrupt leaders, Na'Allah tells youth
The Vice Chancellor, Kwara State University, Malete Abdulrasheed Na'Allah has charged youth not to follow the footsteps of corrupt office holders and be part of the new Nigeria.
Na'Allah gave the charge at the weekend while delivering a lecture tagged "Decadence in Society: Way forward" at the 4th District Officers Training Seminar/Rotaract Officers' Training Seminar organized by Rotaract District 9125, Nigeria, Rotary International held at Agricultural Management and Training Institute (ARMTI).
According to him, corrupt leaders were impediments to development in Nigeria, saying youth cannot because of the corrupt leaders relax on their oars and watch things go wrong in the country.
He lamented the rate at which corrupt public officers across the nation are been celebrated after been charged on numbers of counts, saying the youth must rise up to fight the sad and unchecked sorry situation. He said "you all must continue to match forward to achieve a corruption-free Nigeria and you all must not give reasons by justifying corruptioa using the corrupt leaders as examples."The vice chancellor charged youths not to join the soldiers of youth. who are bent on destroying the nation at the detriment of other citizens.
While urging them to shun all acts of cheating, the vice chancellor noted that it was good to be an honourable loser rather than a glorified corrupt citizen.
He then decried the rate at which some youth struggle in negative matters to obtain good grades at the detriment of others and the development of the education sector in Nigeria.
Na'Allah wondered why Nigeria with its abundant human and natural resources still lag behind in development and its citizens in dejection.
According to him, the citizens of the nation with its resources also remained the saddest of all citizens across the world.
While delivering his inagural speech, the newly installed District Rotract Representative (DRR), District 9125, Rotr Shittu D. Abdulwasi'u, gave assurance that his administration would discharge its duties with all sense of humanity and loyalty.
Abdulwasi'u noted among other projects to be executed, donation of sewing machine, donation of wheel chairs, donation of relief materials to motherless home, prison yard occupants, rehabilitation of centres, donation of hair dryer and accessories.
