Corporate organisations charged on grassroots development

AS part of measures to develop grassroots sports,  Kwara state commissioner for Sports, Mr. Kayode Towou, has called on corporate organisation to emulate MILO by investing on youths development through sports.

Speaking at the opening of the 14th MILO Secondary Schools Basketball in the North Central zone in Ilorin, Towoju said that such exercise would see the organisation giving back to the community.

He urged other corporate organizations to emulate MILO by investing in youth development through sports.

He also advised the youths participating in the competition to put all the seriousness it deserved in the exercise so that they would emerge victorious.

The commissioner, who said sporting activities is now a very lucrative venture, added that people now make fame, connection and wealth from them.

Also speaking, the South West Brand Manager of MILO, Mrs Funmi Osineye, thanked the state government for the support for the competition, adding that the essence of the competition was to bring future champions and good talents among the students.

She said the number of participating schools had been increased to 5,000 schools, adding that 11 teams, including both male and female are expected to emerge at the end of the zonal competition.

She also said that those who emerge victorious would be given cash prizes and trophies at the end of the competition.
