The Kwara State Government has restated its resolve to accord the security of lives and property top priority to ensure peace and development of the state.

The State Deputy Governor, Elder Peter Kisira stated this yesterday in Ilorin while receiving the delegation of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin led by Air Commodore Olalekan Jimmy Lawal in his office.

Elder Kisira noted that the state government attached great importance to security in view of the location of the state with international border. The Deputy Governor charged the people to maintain the peaceful status currently existing in the state.

He stated that the state government would positively engage the youths and urged them to take the advantages and opportunities offered by the armed forces to contribute their quota to the development and defence of the nation.

Elder Kisira challenged youths in the state to join the armed forces to build their carrier and curb the various security challenges confronting the nation. Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Air Commodore Olalekan Lawal said the team was in the state on an enlightenment and education drive to encourage youths particularly students in the Senior Secondary School cadre on the various opportunities and prospects in the armed forces.

Commodore Lawal who expressed concern on the low enrollment in the armed forces emphasized the need for the younger ones to join the military in view of the various chances and opportunities available to build their carrier.
