Go back to farm, gov's aide advises Kwarans
The people of Kwara State have been advised to go into farming en-mass to make life easy and meaningful for them. The Special Adviser to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Agriculture, Anu Ibiwoye gave the advice in Ilorin at the weekend while speaking with newsmen.
Ibiwoye according to a statement signed by Press Secretaries of Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Haljanat Haruna and Aliyu Amode described farming as means of ensuring availability of food and poverty alleviation. He disclosed that in a bid to make life more meaningful for the people, the present administration was working tirelessly to see that the remaining three set of Malete graduands who were not yet empowered are not left out in the empowerment scheme.
The governor's aide said government was giving its unflinching support to farmers by providing them with the needed farm tools, adding that government was also arranging to make loan available to the farmers through the Central Bank of Nigeria. He noted that the state was blessed with fertile land and urged those interested in farming to make use of this natural gift by engaging in farming across the state.
On the issue of pipe borne water, Ibiwoye however disclosed that government was executing a contract worth N10 billion for rehabilitation of dams and reticulation of water in Ilorin metropolis in order to meet the need of the people.
He added that government had embarked on the drilling of boreholes in some areas which included Sosoki, Adewole, Gaa-Akanbi as well as rehabilitation of boreholes at the NYSC camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government. He said government had in this year's budget approved the drilling of 938 boreholes across the state.
