Kwara Internal Revenue Service generates over N848 million in January
Executive Chairman, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service, Dr Muritala Awodun The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service says it generated eight hundred and forty-eight million naira in the month of January.
The Executive chairman of the Service, Dr Muritala Awodun stated this during an interview VON in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
According to him, the money was generated in its Agency's first operation in the state, adding that the five billion naira monthly target given by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed is achievable through proper planning.
Dr. Awodun, who predicted that this month's generation would be more than that of last month, said all obstacles to the Services operations have been removed.
Responding to a question on the issue of Kwara Resident Identification Number (KRIN), the executive chairman of the service explained that the exercise is a means of enumerating all residents of the state that are 18years and above.
He said the forms can be obtained from the KWIRS office or downloaded online and when filled should be returned to the office.
Dr. Awodun, who promised that his Service will be transparent in its dealings, stressed the Agency's determination to patronise Local people, while also encouraging the government to do the same.
On the issue of Control posts, he said the 11 people selected out of a hundred that applied are on probation for three months after which they would be retained or kicked out depending on their performances and another set would be given a similar opportunity.
Dr. Awodun said the Community Impact Programme of the Service is a continuous one and that it would continue its advocacy visits to enlighten the people on tax education and its relevance to development.
He commended the people of the state for their cooperation, while enjoining them to join hands with him by paying their tax to make Kwara a better place.
In a separate interview with a cross section of some Kwarans they also implored the KWIRS to be transparent in its dealings and ensure that the money generated is used for the betterment of the state.
