Date: 2016-01-29

National Union of Printing, Publishing and Paper Products Workers, NUPPPPROW, has called on the Federal Government to address increasing cases of indecent jobs in the country as manifested through through the use of casual and contract employment.

This was part of NUPPPPROW resolutions reached at the 16th session of its National Executive Council, NEC, in Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to the resolutions by its General Secretary, F.A. Salami, NUPPPPROW noted that the engagement of casual labour by employers of labour was another way of enslaving Nigerians.

According to the resolutions: "The NEC congratulates the newly appointed Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, and calls on him to address the excesses of the contract and casual labour being engaged by the employers of labour, as this is another way of enslaving Nigerians.

"The NEC charges the state governments not to renege on the existing minimum wage rate and further calls for its upward review, considering the purchasing power of such rate as a result of naira depreciation. NEC calls for calm and urges the labour leaders in the country to peacefully resolve the issue of minimum wage review."

NUPPPPROW also called on the state governments to equip and upgrade the present states of their printing press and argued that it would create job opportunity.
