Kwara community seeks Buhari's protection from attacks

Date: 2016-01-14

The people of Shaare community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, represented by Shaare patriotic Movement, led by Associate Professor Abdulfatai Jimoh, has called on President Mohammed Buhari and the Nigerian security agencies to protect them from ceaseless attacks by Nupe-Tsaragii sponsored terrorists. Addressing the press, in Abuja, on Wednesday, Jimoh decried what he called a litany of falsehood that was being peddled in certain quarters which tended to portray the peace-loving people of Shaare as guilty and fond of provoking their neighbours to unnecessary scuffles and violence.

He said that "The Tsaragi terrorists, who invaded Shaare between 19th and 20th December, 2015, may have to justify to the public and convince the law enforcement agencies and other relevant authorities why felling of trees around former Native Authority School (now Community Primary School) and UMCA Primary school, both in Share, had to be greeted with sporadic shooting of people, killing and maiming of harmless and law abiding Shaare citizens, destructions of houses, shops, places of worship (churches and mosques), schools, animals, banks and telecommunication masts in Shaare community".

Narrating how the unfortunate incident started in September 2015, he said it all began when the headmaster of Community LGEA Primary School, Shaare, informed the Management of the School, the Parent-Teacher Association, the leadership of Shaare Patriotic Movement (SPM), Shaare Descendants Union (SDU) and Shaare Traditional Council (STC) on a need to clear the school premises of thick bush, which constituted security threat to pupils and teachers. And that after obtaining the needed approval and bush-clearing commenced, some Nupe youths from Tsaragi - a neighboring community - appeared and tried to stop the clearing work claiming the area belonged to them.

He further disclosed that initial peace efforts by security agencies especially the police authority represented by Bode Saadu, the Area Commander, Mr. Oyekan (an Assistant Commissioner of Police), DPOs of Shaare and Tsaragi Divisions respectively, failed, thus leading to a further breakdown of law an order that, on Saturday, 19th December, 2015, a group of Tsaragi youths led by one Alhaji Ahmed, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Tsaragi Youth Leader, in Tsaragai; Mr. Ndanna (a serving Councilor) and Mr. Dede (Ex-Vice Chairman of Edu Local Government Area), attacked Shaare community destroying life and property.

The union also requested security agencies to arrest the ring leader of Tsaragi terrorist group, one Mohammed Buhari (a.k.a. Siroko), who, on the instruction of their Emir, Etsu Tsaragi Abdullah Aliyu Kpotuaw, started the gruesome invasion of Shaare community. They also expressed gratitude to the Government of Kwara State for their quick intervention and the setting of two different commissions: an administrative panel of enquiry headed by the Emir of Ilorin and a judicial panel of enquiry.
