For allegedly stealing a GSM handset, a 21-year-old man, Fuhamu Suleman of No. 75, Ile Magaji, Surulere Area, Ilorin, has been remanded at the Federal Prison, Oke-Kura, Ilorin.

The order to remand the accused was made by an Ilorin Chief Magistrate Court before which he appeared on a two-count charge of criminal trespassed and theft. The offences contravene Sections 348 and 287 of Penal Code Law.

The accused was said to have trespassed into a shop belonging to one Kafayat Yusuf of Tanke-Bubu Area, Tanke, Ilorin, where he stole the GSM handset.

He allegedly pretended as customer who intends to buy some goods from the shop before he stole a Tecno mobile phone valued at N6,000 that was placed on the table right inside the shop.

Police First Infomration Report (FIR) on the matter stated that preliminary investigation conducted at 'F' Division Police Station, Tanke, Ilorin, revealed that the accused requested for a N10 sachet water before he stole the said GSM handset, while immediate search on the accused led to the recovery of the phone.

The prosecutor, Inspector Adebayo Mosho'od objected to the bail of the accused and urged the court to remand him pending the outcome of the investigation.

Chief Magistrate Lekan Adegbite ordered that the accused be remanded at the Federal Prison, Oke-Kura, Ilorin, till the next adjourned date.

The matter would come up again on June 21, 2012 for further mention.
