Abdulrahman apologises to Kwara govt.
Kwara United head coach, Tunde Abdulrahman has apologised to the state government, fans and supporters of the Harmony Warriors over the team's demotion to the lower league.
The Ilorin side confirmed their place among the relegated clubs last week after they were beaten by Sharks 1-0 in Port Harcourt despite their valiant battle to remain in the elite division beyond this season.
Abdulrahman in a chat with SportingLife expressed that so many issues led to their demotion to the lower league, especially the crisis in the club during the early part of the season but revealed that he has taken responsibility for the inability of the club to maintain their top flight status.
The former FC Taraba and Wikki Tourists head coach, who qualified both clubs to the elite division from the lower league however thumbed up the significant contributions of the Kwara State Government under Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for the prompt payment of the players and coaches emoluments.
He said the state government has been very fort right to the cause of the Harmony Warriors throughout the season and that they would ensure that they beat FC IfeanyiUbah on Sunday in the final game of the season as a show of appreciation for the support in spite of the turbulence.
Abdulrahman told SportingLife that he has no doubts that Kwara United have the wherewithal to bounce back from the lower league at the first time of asking just like the team did at the beginning of the season before the sad turn of events.
"I want to apologise to the Kwara State Government and the good people of the state including our fans and supporters for our inability not to maintain our premier league status. There are some reasons responsible for this sad turn of event but it is a story for another day. I make bold to state that some problems in the team at the beginning of the season contributed in no small measure but as the head of the team, I take responsibility for what happened.
"The state government have been of immense support to our cause with the prompt payment of our emoluments. We will strive to beat FC IfeanyiUbah in our last game to show our appreciation for the support of the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed led government," Abdulrahman told SportingLife.
Kwara Utd are 18th on the log with 39 points on the log from 37 games. They have been demoted to the lower league alongside Bayelsa United and FC Taraba.
