Warri Wolves 3-0 Kwara United: Seasiders heap pressure on NPFL leaders with home win

The Seasiders secured a win before their home fans to boost their league title ambition as the Harmony Warriors in deep relegation problem.

Warri Wolves secured a 3-0 victory over Kwara United in a Week 29 encounter played at the Warri Township Stadium on Sunday.

Goals from Joseph Osadiaye, Stanley Dimgba and Kufre Ebong ensured coach Paul Aigbogun's men boost their bid for the NPFL title and also compound the relegation worries of their visitors.

The hosts started brightly as Osadaiye's shot saved by goalkeeper Yekeen in the 13th minute.

Five minutes to half time, Azubuike Egwuekwe's header was on target but could not change the score line.

Ebong broke the deadlock with a sublime finish to hand the hosts a 1-0 lead before the break.

In the second half, the hosts continued from where they stopped in the first as Osadiaye doubled his side's lead in the 56th minute.

Nine minutes later, Dimgba shoots left-footed past keeper Yekeen thanks to Osadiaye brilliant assist in the 65th minutes.

Kwara fought lately through Dare Ojo's shot from 25 yards for a consolation but Wolves keeper Okiemute Odah smartly kept it out for safety inside the injury time to ensure a clinical victory for the hosts.

The victory keeps Warri Wolves in the second spot with 51 points and Kwara pulled down to relegation zone with 32 points.
