Date: 2015-09-08

Nigeria's Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki has awarded N1million scholarship to two first class students in Law from the University of Ilorin.

The two beneficiaries of the first set are Mohammed Abdullahi Tosin from Irepodun local government and Adam Mohammed Ndakuku from Edu local government area of Kwara state.

The gesture, according to Saraki was to assist the beneficiaries fund their training at the Nigerian Law School.

Saraki who presented the money to the beneficiaries at his Ilofa GRA residence in Ilorin, said it was in fulfillment of his electioneering campaign promises to channel his pension as former governor of Kwara state into a scholarship scheme.

"My aim is to ensure that the fund is used as a form of social security to support existing state scholarship scheme.

"The plan is to further give vent to my believe that government alone cannot effectively take care of the needs of our people.

"It is also my believe that the resource Nigeria has to propel her development is her human resource and those who can change the course of Nigeria's development and make it faster and in compliance with world standard are already here".
