Edo state Governor, Adams Oshiomole, has disclosed that the police have convinced him to some extent about their seriousness in finding out the killer of his principal private secretary, Olaitan Oyerinde who was shot dead by some unknown gunmen recently.

Oshiomole made this known in Ilorin, yesterday, while speaking with journalists shortly after paying condolence visit to the father of the deceased, Mr. AbdulAzeez Oyerinde, a veteran journalist, and other members of the family along Ibrahim Taiwo road in the Kwara State capital.

He said that the police last week briefed him of the extent of their investigation on the matter and that the briefing made him to have reasons to believe that they will find the killers of his late aide.

According to him, "It was because of this development that my government extended the 40 days deadline it gave the police and has not begun to, own its own, take steps towards unraveling the suspected murderers.

Oshiomole added that he does not want to take certain steps yet "so that the police don't say the steps I took has affected their investigations."

His words: "If the police did not uncover the suspects within the extended period of the deadline given to them, my administration would resort to taking the steps it is withholding because we still reserve the right to take direct actions.

"I have resolved to ensure that Oyerinde's case is an exception to the cases of politically related murder and other forms of murder that their perpetrators are never found.
