Emir turbans four new community leaders in Ilorin
The Ilorin Emirate recently witnessed a royal gathering of high profile traditional chiefs as the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, turbaned four new chiefs.
In his remarks at the ceremony, the emir said the event was very unique because, according to him, that was the first time four traditional chiefs would be turbaned same day.
He, therefore, charged the new chiefs to see their positions as avenues for serving Allah and humanity, stressing that they should always carry their people along in matters that affect their lives.
The traditional ruler particularly tasked the district heads to always stay with their subjects to enhance harmonious living in their respective domains, adding that they are to serve as intermediaries between their people and the emirate council.
He later presented the new Balogun with a key to a new E-class Mercedes Benz, as he once did for other Baloguns.
The new chiefs were the Balogun Ajikobi of Ilorin, Alhaji Issah Mohammed Jimoh, and three district Heads (Daudus) including Alhaji Isiaka Yusuf; Ipaye, Moro Local Government, Alhaji Saadu, Moro Local Government and Alhaji Olarongbe Abdulkadir; Ballah in Asa Local Government Area of the state.
The event attracted the Magaji Aare of Ilorin, Alhaji Aremu Zubair, the three other Baloguns led by that of Fulani, Alhaji Durosinlohun Atiku, the Madawa of Ilorin, Justice Saidu Kawu (rtd), the Marafa of Ilorin, Justice Abdulkadir Orire (rtd), and other traditional chiefs in the emirate.
Government functionaries were also in attendance, while the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Mohammad Bashir Salihu, led other Imams and Islamic scholars at the event.
