NULGE Suspends Strike in Kwara

Date: 2015-07-27

Over 20,000 workforce in all the 16 local government councils of Kwara state under the aegis of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) at the weekend suspended their two weeks' strike following the agreement reached with the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed to pay them their salaries and allowances.

The council workers in the state had commenced their indefinite strike two weeks ago over the non-payment of five months' salaries and allowances.

The leadership of the NULGE and other unions in the state had taken all measures to ensure that the state government use the purported collection of bailout funds from the federal government to pay them their outstanding salaries and allowances owed them but to no avail.
