Date: 2008-12-07

Nigerian leaders have been charged to see themselves as having a key role to play in the development of the country and to always promote what would foster oneness among the diverse people.

Kwara State Governor, Dr Bukola Saraki made the charge at the weekend when he received a delegation of Omu-Aran Community, led by its Monarch, Oba Charles Oladele Ibitoye on a thank-you visit at Government House, Ilorin.

Governor Saraki Tasked Nigeria past and present leaders including the traditional rulers to contribute their quotas towards the Nation’s development and to always stand for the truth at all times, irrespective of political affiliation.

Saraki, who promised to work hand-in-hand with the community for more progress and development, assured the delegation that all his earlier commitment to the people of Omu-Aran at the Fidau Prayers for Alhaja Asmau Bamigboye would be fulfilled.

He described the First Military Governor of the State, General David Lasisi Bamigboye, who is also a member of the delegation as a shining star not only to Kwara State but the entire country.

Dr Saraki, who led a powerful government delegation to the Fidau prayers in Omu-Aran, described the occasion as a rare honour for the community to have had in attendance all top government functionaries including the Waziri of Ilorin, Dr Olusola Saraki.

While praising Gen. Bamigboye for his immense contributions to the development of the State, the Governor noted, what happened in Omu-Aran shows the level of maturity and development of democracy in Nigeria.

Earlier, the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Oladele Ibitoye had expressed appreciation to Dr Saraki and the State Government for the love demonstrated to the people of Omu-Aran during the Fidau prayers for Gen. Bamigboye’s late mother.

The Royal father, who also thanked the Waziri of Ilorin, Dr Olusola Saraki for being in attendance, assured the governor of the unflinching support of the entire sons and daughters of Omu-Aran in his efforts at building a new Kwara.

In a vote of thanks, a member of the House of Representatives representing Irepodun, Isin,Ekiti and Oke-Ero Federal constituency, Hon. Gbenga Makanjuola expressed appreciation on behalf of Olomu-in-Council and the entire Bamigboye family to Dr Saraki for this support during the Fidau prayers in Omu-Aran.
