Governor Saraki wins another Award

Date: 2009-03-16

Kwara State Governor, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki has added yet another feather to his cap by wining the award of the Most Outstanding Governor in 2008 from the North-Central Zone of the country.

The award ceremony, which was organized by the National Daily newspaper, attracted eminent Nigerians from all walks of life including Ministers, Governors, Captains of industry and other awardees.

Dr Saraki was nominated for the award by the Editorial Board and Management of the National Daily for his deep appreciation of the need to shift emphasis from over-reliance on oil as the mainstay of the nation’s economy, hence the focus of his administration on the development of agriculture in the State.

His monumental achievements in the areas of health, education, power supply, road construction and rehabilitation as well as housing among others, were the compelling forces, which attracted Dr Saraki to the organization for consideration of the award of Best Governor in the North-Central in 2008.
