A member of the Kwara State House of Assembly representing Ipaye/Malete/Olooru constituency, Mr. Iliasu Ibrahim, has filed a motion before the state High Court in Ilorin, seeking the imprisonment of the outgoing Speaker, Mr. Razak Atunwa, and other principals of the state Assembly for allegedly flouting court orders.

Ibrahim, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, was suspended twice by the House in 2012 and 2013.

He, however, challenged his second suspension at the state High Court, Ilorin.

A judgement later delivered by the court on June 13, 2014, nullified his suspension, and ordered his reinstatement and the payment of all his entitlements during the time he was on suspension.

The House filed an appeal for stay of execution of the judgement.

But the three-man panel of the court, in its judgement on March 11, 2015, unanimously dismissed the motion, thereby paving the way for his resumption for legislative activities.

However, Ibrahim has alleged that he was prevented from entering the House by the security of the Assembly, and he has returned to the court with a motion seeking to commit Atunwa and all other principal officers to prison.
