Akume's Residence Turns New Mecca

Date: 2015-05-13

Since he indicated interest in the office of the Senate President, the home of the Senate Minority Leader, George Akume has become a Mecca of sorts, writes Seriki Adinoyi

The Saturday, June 6, 2015 inauguration date of the eighth National Assembly might be a few weeks away, the build-up of activities around certain ranking members of the Assembly has however heightened in recent days, lending credence to where the pendulum of the leadership may swing at the commencement of the assembly.

The hitherto serene Maitama, Abuja residence of two-term Benue State governor, who is returning to the Senate for a third term, Senator George Akume, has been a beehive of activities lately.

Serving senators, senators-elect, governors and top party leaders took turns to visit Akume, who has indicated interest in the senate presidency, under the zoning template of the APC.
