Federal Government to construct Kosubosu/Kaiama road
The State Governor, Dr Bukola Saraki, disclosed on Thursday while receiving Traditional Rulers from Kwara North who paid him a traditional Sallah Homage at the Government, House, Ilorin.
Similarly, Dr Saraki also disclosed that the Federal Government has approved the construction of Kosubosu-Kishi road which is to be included in the 2011 budget.
The Governor, who thanked the Royal Fathers and the entire people of Kwara North for their support to his administration, also assured that work would soon commence on the rehabilitation of Tsaragi-Patigi federal road, which is presently in a deplorable condition.
Governor Saraki further disclosed that the third section of Kosubosu-Chikanda road would be completed by January next year.
On rural electrification, he said his government had connected more communities in the State to the national grid, stressing that more would be energized in 2010 to facilitate the overall socio-economic development of the State.
The Governor explained that an amendment bill would soon be forwarded to the State House of Assembly to compel buyers of paddy rice to establish rice processing factories in the State to further enhance its industrialization.
Dr Saraki enjoined Traditional Rulers in the Senatorial District to always give royal guidance to Local Government Councils in their area to ensure that people in the area had more access to dividends of democracy.
He, however, expressed displeasure over the attitudes of some of the Council Chairmen in the area for diverting fertilizer products, which according to him, was subsidized to boost food production in the State.
The Chief Executive enjoined the Monarchs to always ensure that fertilizer products got to the local farmers who according to him were the end users.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and the Vice Chairman of the State Traditional Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Chatta Umar said they were in Government House to pay Traditional Sallah Homage to the Governor.
Alhaji Umar, who is the Etsu Patigi, praised the Governor for the numerous people-oriented projects executed in the Senatorial District and assured the Governor of the total support of the people of the area to his administration.
