According to him, this is expedient to further retain the confidence of Nigerians in INEC's ability to conduct credible and transparent elections for a sustainable democratic system.
He ascribed the success recorded in the elections to the resilience and patriotism of Nigerians, as well as the cooperation of media outfits who credibly assisted in propagating the intricacies of the elections.
Voter Apathy
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner bemoaned the high level of voter apathy during the gubernatorial and state house of assembly polls, urging the electorate to bring similar enthusiasm displayed in the presidential elections during subsequent electoral process.
Dr. Onucheyo explained that inspite of some challenges recorded during the general election, "it is time for politicians to begin to let their achievements speak for them during the polls, rather than trying to buy their way out."
hile acknowledging the relative peace witnessed in the elections in the state, he however urged the electorate to desist from spreading unauthorized results on the social media as it is punishable under the electoral law.
Dr. Onucheyo, who expressed delight in the show of sportsmanship by politicians in recent days urged them to sustain the feat, while urging those that lost out to accept defeat gallantly, relegate unnecessary litigation, and begin to prepare for future elections.
