KFA prepares for 2015 Federation Cup
The Board Chairman of Kwara Football Academy (KFA), Alhaji Hamzat Mustapha Balogun has praised the players for their performance at this year's edition of the state FA Cup, which was concluded on Saturday. The team lost 4-3 to Kwara United FC in the final on penalties after playing out a two-all draw at regulation time.
Alhaji Balogun admitted that the young boys were technically better than Kwara United FC, but lost the final due to inexperience.He said that the Academy will step up its preparation for the Federation Cup, as they hope to make an impact in the team.
Goalkeeper Utum Godswill Solomon and Emma Ugbo, who scored the two crucial goals against clueless Kwara United FC were highly impressive in the match which exposed the technical deficiency in the Premier League team.
Also in his view, the Administrator of KFA, Mutiu Adepoju promised adequate representation at the National level.
Speaking in an interview at the end of the match, General Manager of Kwara United FC, Alhaji Haruna Maigidansanmo commended the fighting spirit of his team and urged them to keep up their games in subsequent engagement.
Both side scored three penalties from the five mandatory kicks.
Kwara United scored their kick in the sudden death to give victory to the Premier League side.
Kwara Football Academy drew the first blood through Emma Ugbo in the 17th minute while Saka Habeeb leveled up for Kwara United in the 39th minute, when his shot was deflected past goalkeeper Utum..
Kwara United registered the second goal in the 68th minute through Seriki Jelili while the first goal scorer, Emma Ugbo nodded in the equalizer for KFA in the 78th minute, to level up scores.
Both teams will represent the State at the National level.
The draw for the National Federation Cup will hold on April 18th.
