Kwara Set To Distribute Additional 50 Transformers

Date: 2015-02-26

Before the end of February, the Kwara State government will distribute additional 50 transformers to various communities across the state to boost power supply for stimulation of socio-economic transformation of the state.

The state's commissioner for Energy, Alh. Musa Abdullahi disclosed this in Ilorin yesterday during the symbolic distribution of 100 transformers to various communities through the council chairmen of all the 16 local government areas in the state.

The commissioner disclosed that 186 communities had been connected to the national grid through the procurement. and installation of transformers since the inception of Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed's administration in 2011.

He added that 75 communities had enjoyed complete rural electrification, while six injection sub-station projects had been constructed.

Abdullahi charged the benefiting communities to ensure adequate protection of the transformers to avert being stolen or vandalized.

While appreciating the state government for the gesture, the chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Kwara state branch, Barrister AbdulLateef Okandeji, said Governor Ahmed-led administration had tremendously touched the lives of the people positively through its various electrification projects.
