Nigerian Women Asked To Push For More Political Positions
The wife of the Kwara State Governor, Mrs Omolewa Ahmed, has urged Nigerian women to partake in political activities in order to bring positive changes.
Mrs Ahmed made the call at Afon, the headquarters of Asa Local Government Area of the state while distributing empowerment materials to women groups in the area.
She stressed that women had roles to play politically and urged them not to shy away from contributing their quota to the development of Nigeria.
On the empowerment materials which include sewing machines, dryers and foodstuff, she said what the women lacked was opportunity to exhibit their knowledge, emphasising that the contribution would ensure the growth of their businesses.
The President Goodluck Jonathan's administration has approved a 35 per cent affirmative plan for Nigerian women in politics.
This plan had given women more opportunities to view for political positions.
