OPINION - Re: The death of freedom and the rebirth of servitude. By Iyanda Abdullahi
Well, the history will also remember you, Mahfouz Abdulsalam, for whatever your interest is in fabricating the truth. First, if all the Kwarans who have had opportunities to represent us in different capacities, did half of what Prof. Oba Abdulraheem has done for Kwara and Ilorin in particular, the poverty and illiteracy rates in our community would have been a very different story.
Do you care to ponder and consider the meaning of freedom before tagging some people as freedom fighters?
What has Dele Belgore done to the people of Kwara, Ilorin or even his immediate environment to deserve the name freedom fighter?
Or in your own reasoning is it when one come out to contest election without prior contribution to that community and got appreciable number of votes? If you are a friend to people in the academic, they will give you several reasons for that. In the case of Dele Belgore in 2011, his brilliant performance was very accidental because he only benefited from a protest vote not because he or his family had done any good to ilorin or Kwara.
In the case of Muinat Shagaya, she should know that being friend to almost all the First Ladies in the country since the time of IBB till date without any benefit to people of Ilorin and her family, cannot and will never make her a political Godmother in Kwara state.
Hypocrites have their limited time before the truth is known to all. In my own humble reasoning, running away from Godfatherism and embracing Godmother in the person of Muinat Shagaya with all her antecedent, is moving from fry pan to fire.
