UBA opens new office in Egosi

Date: 2010-07-23

The Kwara State Governor, Dr Bukola Saraki has restated the commitment of his administration to continue to partner with financial institutions to further raise economic potentials of the citizens and the overall development of the State.

Dr Saraki made the commitment on Wednesday while commissioning the new Business Office of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc at Egosi-Ele in Oke-Ero Local Government Council.

He disclosed that such partnership with financial institutions by the State Government would go a long way in raising the socio-economic activities of the people of the area in particular and the state in general.

Dr Saraki, who expressed confidence that the community would engage the new business office in profitable financial transactions, called for security surveillance on the bank to ensure that its workers operate in a safe environment.

The governor described his presence at the ceremony as symbolic, noting that it was the first time he would be commissioning a branch of a bank since he assumed office in 2003.

He praised the Group Managing Director of UBA, Chief Tony Elumelu and the management for their zeal, commitment and dedication to duty which he said, had led to the expansion of the bank.

Dr Saraki, however, implored the management of UBA to open more business offices in other parts of the State for even development and also called on the people of Egosi-Ile to support the branch by patronizing the bank.

Earlier, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Chief Tony Elumelu said the establishment of UBA in Egosi-Ile was part of the commitment of the Bank to contribute to the economic growth of the community.

Elumelu further disclosed that the essence of the bank was to support the community in developing its economic activities and equally serve the interest of the entire people of the area.

He charged the people of Egosi-Ile to utilize the presence of the bank for their socio-economic growth and expansion of their businesses so as to justify the establishment of the bank in the area.
