Tambuwal: Kwara Speaker condemns removal of security details

Date: 2014-11-01

Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Mr Razak Atunwa, has condemned the removal of security details attached to the Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal by the Police, describing it as unconstitutional, improper and gross rascality.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Friday, the Speaker said that Tambuwal was entitled to all paraphernalia of office irrespective of the political party he belongs to, adding that he has not been impeached.

"First, I commend the Speaker for his action to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). He has been a man who stands for righteousness and he has taken the right action. The reaction that his police details had been withdrawn is most unfortunate, improper and unconstitutional," he said.

"He, as we speak now, remains the Speaker of the House of Representatives and he is entitled to all the apontenances (materials) of the office, regardless of party affiliation. The issue whether or not he's entitled to defect to another party without consequence or with consequence is matter to be solely interpreted by court, he said.
