The Kwara State Police Command has paraded three suspected armed robbers who recently invaded the house of former Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Professor Bayo Lawal.

The suspects, who were paraded at the state Police Headquarters, Ilorin are Samuel Olawale Pedro, Ogunjobi Segun and Alhaji Danjuma Abu, while three others are said to be at large.

Parading the suspects before newsmen in Ilorin yesterday, the state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Salihu Garba, said: "The suspects were reported by the victim to have robbed his house on 20 of October, 2014, and carted away valuable materials worth millions of naira." Garba announced that 13 other suspects had been arrested for various offences committed in the state and Oyo State.

They were arrested for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, causing grievous hurt and being cult members and gave their names as: Muritala Ibraheem, Suraju Seidu, Samuel Olawale, Ogunjobi Segun and Danjuma Abu

Others included: Abdullahi Muhammed, Ajao Ajibola, Ayodeji Akinfenwa, Onolapo, Alimi Moshood and Bolaji Ganiyu Items recovered from them included nine wrist watches, two cameras,one white garment, jewelries, one revolver, four rounds of 9mm ammunition, a Black Berry phone, one Nokia phone and an ipad.

The police commissioner stated that: "The state command is up and doing to combat all forms of crime and criminality in the state." Garba warned criminals to leave the state or meet their waterloo.

The commissioner, who said the suspects would soon be arraigned, called on the people of the state to always assist the police with useful information so as to stem the rising wave of crime in the state.
