Kwara 2015: Forum donates N 25million, 8 vehicles for Prof. Oba's ambition
The group also donated six newly branded vehicles for the electioneering campaign activities of the don stressing that N 12.5 million out of the total sum will be used to purchase expression form while the remaining N 12.5 million will be kept for miscellaneous.
The Coordinator of the Forum, Mallam Abdulrasheed Ajao, stated this in Ilorin while delivering his address at the event. He noted that the forum is composed of over 1,000 members cutting across the nation.
According to him, "the idea of organizing the event is a mark of honour towards appreciating the numerous opportunities that the varsity don has offered to the people of the nation in our own little way.
"Prof. Oba is somebody that has contribute to the socio-economic development of Kwara state particular and Nigeria as a whole in no small measure. We are confident that if given a chance to lead the state as the Executive Governor in 2015, he will definitely make meaningful impact on the lives of our people. "
Mallam Ajao further stressed that "the don is no doubt a selfless leader, he is always passionate about manpower development and capacity building for the people of the nation and youths in particular. That is why Kwarans stood and persuaded him to run for the governorship seat in the forthcoming general election in the state.
The Coordinator however lamented the lack of infrastructural development in the state. He therefore urged party faithful to rally round Prof. Oba in order achieve the desired outcome by becoming the flagbearer of the PDP during the party's primary.
Also, the Chairman of the event, Barrister Akinmade Yahya, in his address entitled: "Kwara 2015, why Oba Abdulraheem?" noted that he has made thorough search to who can best lead Kwara State in 2015 before he settled his mind for him due to his sterling qualities.
He also urged party stakeholders to move towards feeding-in the appropriate candidate in the various elective positions stressing that "Prof. Oba is the most s
uitable person for the governorship race." At the event, one of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Musa Alasha, donated the sum of N 10 million with a Lexus jeep while Alhaji Isiaka Funsho Babatunde donated a Toyota Tundra jeep to support Prof. Oba's governorship ambition.
Meanwhile, Prof. Oba Abdulraheem expressed his satisfaction over the numerous donations made by the people towards his aspiration and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him adding that, "Politics should be played in line with the extension of happiness to the greatest numbers of people."
