Kwara PDP settles for Uniabuja don as minister

Date: 2014-07-10

The stalemate over Kwara State's ministerial slot was resolved yesterday following a meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and state PDP stakeholders who resolved to nominate a University of Abuja don, Dr. Sulaiman Abubakar, as minister to represent the state in the federal cabinet.

It would be recalled that former Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, was sacked on March 4 ostensibly on the recommendation of the state PDP leadership which accused the ex-minister of not participating in PDP affairs.

Abdullahi was nominated by former Governor Bukola Saraki who has since fallen out of favour with the Presidency as he recently defected to the opposition APC. Since Abdullahi's exit, appointing a replacement became a herculean task as stakeholders differed on the choice.
