Kwara gov warns troublemakers

Date: 2014-06-27

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State yesterday, warned troublemakers, who wanted to use violence as a political tool in the state to look elsewhere. The governor, gave the warning during the swearing in of the Grand Khadi of Shariah Court of Appeal, Justice Salihu Olohuntoyin Muhammed, and Justice Abduraheem Akangbe Ibrahim as the Grand Khadi and Khadi of the state Sharia Court of Appeal respectively.

Ahmed said: "Our state has no place for those who seek to cause trouble in our neighborhoods. In line with our established stand, we will spare no effort to ensure that troublemarkers face the full extent of the law.

"The challenges that confront our country at this time are acute and pervasive. I have often stated that the real solutions to our country's ills are equity, justice and adherence to rule of law. Once we adopt, imbibe and strictly implement these time-tested values, most of the problems confronting our country will be overcome.

I", therefore, wish to emphasise this administration's commitment to the rule of law, which is fundamental to the attainment of the development objectives. As a result, no effort will be spared in the ongoing justice sector reform, which, I am pleased to note, are already yielding the desired results.

"In the same vein, I warn all troublemakers; as we approach the general elections, I urge our people to remain vigilant and guard their votes jealously. We must resist any attempt to coerce or frustrate popular will through violence or other means. Guard your votes for they represent your tool for securing the leadership that will truly better your lives."

"On our part, we are preparing to ground break the most extensive socio-economic capital projects in our state in recent times. It is our determination that these projects will not only create growth that is more inclusive but also generate more opportunities for all our people to enjoy greater prosperity."

He charged all to keep supporting his administration in the multi-faceted strides to make the state a hub of justice, equity, harmony and prosperity.
