Kogi State governor, Captain Idris Wada, who was among the first callers at the former governor’s country home, alongside the elder brother of the deceased, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, received the body of the late former governor of Kwara State.
Wada, who was represented by his deputy at the burial, described the elder statesman as a thoroughbred politician who believed in justice and fair play, pointing out that the late Attah epitomises sincerity, adding that his wise counsel will be greatly missed by the people of Kogi State.
In his condolence messages, the Ohitenyete of Ebiraland, Alhaji Isah Ozi Salami described Alhaji Attah as a rare humanist, who was always concerned with bringing joy to whoever he came across. He said: “As governor of Kwara State, he fought vigorously for the creation of Kogi State regardless of the fact that he would be disadvantaged.
As a politician, he fought against over bearing tendencies of godfatherism without consequence to his tenure. When he lost elections, he conceded defeat to avoid bloodshed, a clear demonstration of exemplary leadership.” The burial prayer was conducted by the Chief Imam of Ebiraland, Alhaji Musa Galadima, who prayed for repose of the departed soul.
