Kwara NUJ begins competition

Ahead of the 2014 Press Week, all is now set for the maiden edition of a feature writing and debate competition organized by the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists for students of Mass Communication across tertiary institutions in the state.

The programme, which kicked off today at the NUJ Press Center, Offa road, GRA, Ilorin, is tagged “Kwara NUJ: Professor Shehu Jimoh Inter-tertiary institutions Feature Writing and Debate Competition”.

According to a statement signed by the first Vice-Chairman and Assistant Secretary of the 2014 Press Week Committee, Mallam Ali Muhammad Rabiuand Mr. Ahmed Abdullateef,  arrangement has been concluded for the event.

It said the topic chosen for the feature writing is “Statesmen are more concerned about future generation than future elections”, while the topic chosen for debate is “National Confab: Veritable tool to enhance National Security and Development, Reality or Mirage”.

The event which will feature four students from each institution will see two students each participating in essay and debate competitions respectively.
