Kwara State Governor, Alh. Abdulfatah Ahmed has canvassed constitutional roles for traditional rulers in nation-building given their  positions as repositories  of the cultural  values of their domains.

Governor Ahmed made the call in Ilorin at the weekend while receiving the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade Olubuse the second accompanied by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and ten other traditional rulers from Osun State.

The governor who described traditional rulers as custodians of traditions, values and customs said their roles strengthen good governance in the country.

Governor Ahmed stressed the need to galvanise the differences among Nigerians in moving the country forward through peaceful co-existence.

The governor maintained that Nigerians have cause to stay together at centenary, calling on all Nigerians to always promote unity and peaceful co-existence for national development.

He commended the Ooni of Ife and the Emir of Ilorin for being strong pillars of good governance.

In his remarks, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade commended the Governor for his monumental achievements in various sectors of the state economy. 

Oba Sijuade prayed God to continue to uplift and guide the Governor in piloting the affairs of the state.

Earlier, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari had extolled the virtues of the Ooni of Ife and commended him for promoting national unity.
