The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Irepodun local government area of Kwara State has declared support for President Goodluck Jonathan and the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, despite the defection of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing party loyalists in Omu Aran, former Commissioner of Information Ben Duntoye commended the people for standing firm and remaining loyal to the PDP despite different forms of intimidation and persecution in the state.

He noted that the defection of some PDP members to the APC was a normal thing in politics assuring that it would not affect the chances of PDP winning elections in 2015.

"Those who left for the APC are expressing themselves because politics is about interests. Whatever the interest they are protecting, we believe that it would come to the fore in no distant time. The party is still very strong and formidable," he said.

A chieftain of APC, Barister Yahaya Akinmade, who just returned to the PDP commended party members for their firmness and urged them not to entertain any fears as PDP would continue to win in all the local government areas of the state and nationwide.
