Rehabilitation of Rural Road & Erosion Control; Saraki Expresses Satisfaction

Former governor of Kwara State and now Chairman Senate Committee on Environment and Ecology, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki has commended the federal Ministry of Environment for the timely execution of the erosion control project at Olomi area of Ogbondoroko, along Afon road in Asa Local Government Area. By this intervention and the rehabilitation of the neighboring rural roads by Ogbondoroko/REKE WARD, ASA our people will once again hive a sigh of relief.

Senator Saraki made this known through his special Assistant on Media Mr. Omishore Bamikole while on an oversight visit to assess the progress of work thus far on the project.

The Senator was particularly delighted that the project which in his view will have direct positive impact on the economy of the local people and prevent disaster is testimony of what is possible if the focus is on people and not politics as evident in the support and solidarity given to the construction workers throughout the project duration.

He confirmed that the Directorate of Project & Empowerment of Abubakar Bukola Saraki Constituency office had certified the project as being executed diligently but had to come and see things himself.

Progress of work was confirmed to include; Excavation for 0.6m x o.6m line drain throughout the length of the road; Removal of unsuitable excavated materials from the road alignment; Provision of reinforcement for line drain to about 200m + on the road; Provision of reinforced concrete based line drain to about 200m+ on the road.

The Distinguished Senator was happy at the progress made so far on the project, he however urged the contractor to double up and bring the project to completion within the 3rd week of December.

Saraki thanked the people of Adewole Ward for their commitment to the erosion project and their resourcefulness in monitoring the project. adhering to the Social Responsibility Compliance Policy as a prerequisite that can ensure speedy development within the area and other geo political zones in the state. In concluding his remark on the visit, the Senator Saraki charged the youths in the area to continue to channel their energy towards positive courses in order to contribute their quota to the development of Kwara State.
